Speaking at a press conference today, Gadkari unveiled a new GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)-based toll collection method, set to replace the existing toll booth system.

The new system will utilize satellite technology to automatically detect and charge vehicles based on their usage of national highways. This shift aims to eliminate the need for physical toll booths, reducing traffic congestion and travel time for commuters. The GNSS-based system is expected to enhance efficiency and accuracy in toll collection, with charges calculated based on the distance traveled rather than fixed toll rates at specific points.
